With the integration of the uniquely designed SMA Smart Connected service, it now offers both PV solar panel suppliers and accredited panel installers continuous around the clock system monitoring and product analysis. This ensures that any inverter faults or failures, can be instantly diagnosed and that immediate action can be undertaken - so saving downtime and costs.
Thanks to its extremely lightweight design and location of the external connections, installation is quick and easily completed, making the Sunny Boy perfectly suited for all home-based solar power generation systems, and thanks to the intuitive webserver the system can be activated and working in next to no time.
Current communication standards mean that intelligent energy management solutions, as well as SMA storage solutions, have the flexibility to be added to the inverter as and when required.

Created as a seamless free online monitoring service for the inverter, SMA Smart Connected provides a direct exchange of data to the Sunny Portal without the need for further devices. This ensures that in the result of an inverter fault or failure, both the PV solar supplier and the panel installer are automatically updated and that the relevant course of action can quickly be agreed upon.
SMA Smart Connect not only saves valuable downtime and those all-important costs but it also actively demonstrates SMA's continued commitment to delivering class-leading technology-based solutions.
Activating SMA Smart Connected
Activating the SMA Smart Connected takes place during the initial registration of the PV solar system in the Sunny Portal. Once activated the inverter is automatically and continuously monitored by SMA at all times.
Continuous Inverter Monitoring
With the aid of the uniquely designed SMA Smart Connected system, every inverter is automatically monitored. This ensures continuous pro-active product support and on-going system analysis around the clock.
Keeping you updated in the event of a fault being diagnosed
After a fault has been diagnosed and analysed, SMA immediately updates both the accredited solar panel installer and the customer directly via email. By doing so, not only is everyone immediately prepared to act and resolve any issues, but it also helps to reduce any system downtime, saves man-hours and reduces cost. Alongside this, the regularly issued power reports also look to provide valuable information concerning the overall system functionality.
If for any reason an alternative inverter is required, SMA will automatically supply a new inverter within one to three working days of the fault being diagnosed, once received the replacement inverter can be installed as quickly as possible.
As the PV solar panel supplier, we have the right to claim compensation from SMA if a replacement inverter cannot be supplied and delivered within three working days.
